Medical needle with dual grinding

One particularly demanding application is the precise measurement of the inner contour of medical needles. In this case, an FDM-2 measuring system is used, which is integrated into a high-precision 3-axis kinematic system. In addition, a miniaturized measuring probe is used to record precise measured values. This combination provides detailed information about the shape and roughness of the cannulas and allows potential damage to be identified at an early stage. As a result, the highest quality standards in medical production can be guaranteed.

Customer: n/a

Industry: Medical technology

Context: Detection of the inner contour of medical cannulas with an inner diameter of 0.9 mm.

Objective: Characterization of shape, roughness and testing for possible damage.

Technology: An FDM-2 measuring system is used on a 3-axis kinematic system (C, Z, Y) with a highly miniaturized barefiber measuring probe. Measured values are determined at 20 kHz.

Result: Detailed point cloud with a total of 5.5 million measuring points, allowing a comprehensive analysis of shape, roughness and surface quality.

Another application is the measurement of the surface of bipolar plates used in fuel cells (Fig. 3). An FDM-2 was used to obtain comprehensive information on profile height, surface quality and potential damage.

Customer: n/a

Indutry: Automotive

Context: Bipolar plates are key components in fuel cells, whose dimensional accuracy and surface quality are decisive for the efficiency of the cell.

Objective: Characterization of profile height, surface quality and checking for damage to the bipolar plate.

Technology: An FDM-2 measuring system is used on a 3-axis kinematic system (C, Z, Y) with a measuring probe with a large acceptance angle. Measured values are determined at 20 kHz.

Result: Detailed point cloud with a total of 23 million measuring points, which allows a very precise analysis of the profile height and surface quality.
